September 1893
1 Friday I went around and told the hands about thrashing this AM. Geo drew manure and put on peach orchard today.
2 Saturday We thrashed today. Robt Westgate done the thrashing. We had 517 bu wheat (35 acres) and 167 bu oats (6 acres). Paid him 2 1/2¢ for bu of wheat and 2¢ for oats, $16.35.
3 Sunday We all went up today, except the Boys and Geo.
4 Monday I helped Minnie this morning about the churning and washing. Geo cleaned up from thrashing, the wood and pails from under the stock bottom.
5 Tuesday Geo & I cut corn in No. 7 today.
6 Weds Geo & I cut corn today, finished cutting No. 7 about 9:30 AM. Then we went down on Dr. Whites and cut the rest of the day.
7 Thurs Geo & I cut corn on Dr. Whites this AM & Geo cut there this PM. I took Minnie up to Church to social.
8 Friday Geo & I cut corn on Dr. Whites today.
9 Saturday Geo & I cut corn on Dr. Whites today. May came down after Geo and he staid all night up to town.
10 Sunday The girls and I went to Church today. May brought Geo back this eve with Uncle John’s horse and buggy.
11 Monday Geo & I cut corn today on Dr. Whites land.
12 Tuesday I took OB’s bags home this morn and while there it rained some. Geo took the children to school. Then we went over to Dr. Whites and cut corn the rest of AM. This PM Geo and I went down to the woods, took the lambs off their Mothers & cleared and fixed place so they could get water in back field, brought home a load of wood.
13 Weds It was rainy this morn. Geo & I fixed spring tooth harrow ready for work, put on boards on west side of box stall and cut some corn this AM. This PM Geo dragged in No. 2. I stripped cane. May came down after Geo to go and do a little Business.
14 Thurs Geo finished dragging in No. 2 about 10 o’clock, then went up in No. 7 and cultivated thie oat stubble the rest of the day. I worked at the cane.
15 Friday Geo cultivated the oat stubble this AM. I cut the cane this AM. This PM Geo took the cane down to H.Y & I went up to town, staid up to Lodge…3º work A.W. Haight.
16 Saturday Geo cultivated corn stubble on Dr. Whites to day. I went up to town this AM. This PM the Boys and I went down to H.Y after the Molasses…6 gallons or 65 lbs. The eve Minnie, Ethel and I went up to town.
17 Sunday We all went to Church today.
18 Monday It was a little damp this morning. I helped Minnie some about washing. O.B. was over a little while. Geo & I cleaned some seed wheat this AM. This PM Geo harrowed on Dr. Whites. I finished cutting corn there and husked 7 shock of corn, about 8 bu.
19 Tuesday Geo harrowed on Dr. Whites this AM. I husked 6 shock corn, 9 bu. This PM Geo finished harrowing and began sowing wheat on Dr. Whites. I went to town and to Mill this PM, 3 bu wheat.
20 Weds Geo sowed wheat on Dr. Whites (25 bu seed) today, finished about 5:30 PM.
21 Thurs Geo cultivated corn stubble in No. 7 this AM. This PM he cultivated oat stubble in No. 7. I husked corn this PM in No. 7, went to town this PM and had Dick shod. This eve Minnie & I went up to Chapter Meeting. I was elected WP of the Eastern Star.
22 Friday I husked corn this AM. This PM Minnie and I went down to the woods and salted the sheep and cattle. Geo harrowed in No. 7 this AM & ? of PM, then rolled in No. 2. I went up to Lodge Meeting this eve 3º (W.D. Reed).
23 Saturday I husked corn this AM and helped about plowing around the fence in No. 2. this PM I cleaned some see wheat. Geo rolled in No. 2 today and dragged some. Minnie & the Girls went up to town this PM. May came down for Geo this eve, Paid Geo $2.00.
24 Sunday We all went to Church today. Rev C.S. Lester preached this Morning.
25 Monday I helped Minnie wash and husked a few shock of corn in No. 7 this AM. This PM I cleaned some seed wheat & c. Geo harrowed in No. 2 this AM and drilled in No. 7 this PM.
26 Tuesday I husked 6 shock of corn in No. 7 this AM and cleaned some seed wheat. This PM Mother came down. I visited with her. This eve I went up to town. Geo finished drilling in No. 7 about 10:30 this AM, sowed about 18 bu Red Clawson on it, harrowed on No. 2 the rest of the day.
27 Weds I helped Minnie this AM pear {pare} peaches, churn & c. This PM I went up to town and thill tug made to Harness. Geo drilled No. 2 with wheat today, 18 bu & sowed Tim seed, 1 ? bu.
28 Thurs Minnie and I went down to Adrian to County Fair today. It was quite cool, a huge crowd & poor Fair. Geo dug potatoes in No. 7 today, 7 bu. Minnie & I went up to Installition (sp) of Oficers of Eastern Star this Eve.
29 Friday Geo & I drew a load of stalks (140 bun) and a load of corn (50) from No. 7, then we put up a load of wheat. I took it down to Mr. Haydens Mill. 63-35/60 bu @ 60¢; rec’d check for same. This PM I drew 3 loads down to Boyd and Root 197 40/60 bu @ 60¢ per bu.
30 Saturday I drew a load of wheat down to the Mill this morn (67-34/60). It began raining and rained the rest of the day. Geo sawed rims on wide tire wagon for narrow ones on two wheels today. I went up to town this AM, drew money on wheat. Paid C.A. Slayton cash in fall a/c, paid Wm Montague ball. on sheep in full. Took the Girls up to their Grandmothers this PM.
